Car Driver Training Options

A driver's licence (or driver licence) is required in Australia before a person is permitted to drive a motor vehicle of any description on a road in Australia.

We provide both manual and automatic courses as well as refresher courses.

Medium Rigid (MR)

Medium Rigid (MR) - any motor vehicle (Truck or Bus) with 2 axles and a GVM (Gross Vehicle Mass) of more than 8 tonne.

Any towed trailer must not weigh more than 9 tonne GVM

Also includes trucks and buses in LR licence categories.

Heavy Rigid Truck or Bus Licence (Roadranger Gearbox)

Heavy Rigid (HR) - any motor vehicle (Truck or Bus ) with 3 axles or more and a GVM of more than 8 tonne. Any towed trailer must not weigh more than 9 tonne GVM. Also includes vehicles in MR and LR licence categories.

This licence will give you an open licence which is required by many transport companies and also many mines require an open licence to gain access to their mines.

Heavy Rigid Truck or Bus Licence (Synchromesh)

Heavy Rigid (HR) - any motor vehicle (Truck or Bus ) with 3 axles or more and a GVM of more than 8 tonne. Any towed trailer must not weigh more than 9 tonne GVM. Also includes vehicles in MR and LR licence categories.

This licence will give you an open licence with a B condition, meaning you can only drive synchromesh or automatic trucks.

Heavy Combination Truck Licence (Synchromesh and Roadranger Gearbox)

Heavy Combination (HC) - any semi trailer or rigid vehicle towing a trailer with a GVM of more than 9 tonne.

Also includes vehicles in HR categories.

Multi-Combination Truck Licence (Synchromesh and Roadranger Gearbox)

Multi-Combination (MC) - any B-Double or Road Train combination.

Also includes vehicles in HR categories
